All sorts of folks live in our marvelous mountain valley and its surrounds. Do you wonder what they are up to? One of them, Bruce Gardiner, is a solar gypsy and has traveled to many very far away places bringing his skills and knowledge about the power and diversity of using our sun to power devices for many common everyday needs including solar electricity (photovoltaics), solar cooking, and solar hot water. He also covers improved biomass stoves. He has shared his expertise and enthusiasm in places like Thailand, Burma, Laos, Vietnam, Madagascar, Tanzania and Haiti.
Since Hayfork Cooperative folks last heard from Bruce, he has spent seven months in Burma (now Myanmar) teaching about and installing solar devices and improved cook stoves. These stoves emit far less smoke, which contributes to improved health, especially respiratory function, by making household air cleaner to breathe.
Bruce is an excellent photographer, and Burma is a beautiful exotic place, making his slide show well worth seeing. Come hear Bruce tell about his work and adventures while he takes us there in pictures. He will leave ample time in his presentation for questions and discussion. Do come be a part of this interesting evening, Tuesday, September 16th at Northern Delights, beginning at 7 pm.
Consider being part of Bruce’s outreach to people who can use the technology and information he has amassed to make their lives better.
Bruce will gratefully accept tax-deductible donations to support this work.
