Farmers’ market enthusiast Amanda Macon will describe the improved, expanded and newly located Hayfork Farmers’ Market. The now inviting Hayfork Park, cleaned up by some concerned and helpful residents, will be the new home of Hayfork market. Now it will also include more than a dozen venders, many with their own handicrafts, and all with special expertise. Live music will often be featured too. And of course, fresh wholesome produce from local gardens will be available for your wholesome, tasty meals.
Amanda will also be taking a survey of opinions and ideas to help determine how the Hayfork Cooperative can better include and serve our community and its individual residents. Come join the discussions.
A short documentary will follow showing the amazing impact of healthy food on learning and behavior at a high school where the kids were out of control and learning little of value. However they transformed to diligent, respectful students when their cafeteria meals, school snacks and beverages were changed from standard American diet items to wholesome foods.
La Via Campesina, the 200 million-member organization of small farmers in 70 countries, just had their 20th anniversary meeting. Its focus was on protecting natural non-GMO, farmer seeds, and non-chemical family farming. A brief and colorful documentary records some of their gathering, goals and diversity of members. We are not alone. Come see this program.
